The Selected Poems series is intended for seasoned poets with a substantial body of published work to their credit. Younger poets or those with only a few books should not submit to this category. Ideally, we want the final length of books in this series to be 125 to 175 pages (at 6 x 9 trim size), including front matter and acknowledgments. Any blurbs or biographical material will be placed on the back cover, not inside.
For each book represented in the collection, include a section page with the book or chapbook title, followed by the original publisher and year of publication. A complete list of acknowledgments, including credits to the journals or magazines in which a work was first published, should be submitted with the manuscript; do not include reprint credits. Alphabetize serial publications separately from books, chapbooks, anthologies, and awards:
A Journal: "Poem 1," "Poem 2," "Poem 3"
"Poem 1," "Poem 2," and "Poem 3" first appeared in Anthology/Book/Chapbook Title (Press, YYYY).
Because this is a series, the cover design is rigid and the title should be [Author Name]: Selected Poems. For samples of organization, use the "Look Inside" feature of the paperback edition on Amazon, linked from our online Catalog. A complete list of acknowledgments, including credits to the original book publishers and to the journals or magazines in which individual works were first published, should be submitted with the manuscript; do not include reprint credits. If not initially included, a Foreword written by a writer or editor of the poet's choice (with their bio) that helps readers understand the poet's place within the framework of contemporary poetry must be supplied post-acceptance.
Only submit one file; if submitting suggested artwork for the cover, zip your entire submission into one file. Acceptance of your manuscript does not include acceptance of any artwork you may submit.
